Last week, I uploaded a worksheet on editing your novel. This one is kind of related in that it’ll help you keep track of which characters possess which items throughout your story, or which items are in which locations.
What I usually do is colour code the items by original owner or location found, depending on which is more useful for the story. Then, you can simply move the item between the columns to show who is holding it in each scene/chapter of your story. You could also substitute the character name for a location name in the column headings to show where the different items can be found.
This isn’t going to be useful for every genre, but it can be a handy tool if items play a big role in your story.
As always, don’t stress over it and enjoy!
