Pricing
My prices for proofreading are worked out on a ‘per word’ basis with a minimum charge of £10/document. Other services are calculated on a ‘per hour’ basis, again with the minimum document charge of £10.

Services
Proofreading
When you give your document to me for proofreading, I will check for spelling and grammatical errors and incorrect word choices. If you request intensive proofreading, I will also look at:
- Tone and style
- Structure (sentence and paragraph)
- Wordiness
- Vocabulary (jargon, repetition)
- Readability
- Basic presentation/formatting
- Inconsistency
Intensive proofreading also gives a free second pass of the document after your changes have been made. Additional proofreading passes over a document can be purchased for £2.50 per 1000 words.
Mentoring
Aimed at fiction writers, my mentoring service is designed to make you into a better author. This is not a proofreading service, although I will advise on all of the aspects covered above. As your writing mentor, I will help you to improve your quality of writing in the following areas amongst others:
- Character development
- Plot and plot holes
- Consistency
- Readability
- Believability
- Spelling and grammar
This service will require work on your part to achieve the best results. To begin, I require you to have at least a rough draft of a document. While I may be able to advise on how you can start writing your masterpiece, I cannot write it for you. That’s called ghost-writing and it’s a different service altogether. Document Formatting
Document formatting is the art of making the words sit correctly on a page. This may be for a university assignment, a self-published book or any number of other publications. Please note, however, that I am not a graphic designer and I will be unable to help with projects requiring graphic work.
Document Authoring/Ghost-writing
If you have an outline for a document you would like written, I can write that for you. For works of fiction, I require a detailed outline of the story’s plot, comprehensive character profiles and a sample of any previous works involving the same plot or characters (if applicable).
